Certifications

With the large influx of cheaper un-branded and largely un-certified LED products from China and the Far East now available in the UK, it is important to understand the safety and performance certification marks that should and can be obtained by an LED lighting product.

Many of these cheaper imports come from un-inspected and often un-regulated factories in China and are sold in large quantities for relatively cheap prices. Unfortunately these types of products have little or no certification marks associated with them and often fail in some form within 1-2 years of use.

We have listed below all the certifications that have been obtained by Aeon Lighting Technology and MWire series LED products, giving you the peace of mind and assurance that you are purchasing the highest specification LED products available.

All ALT LED and MWire LED products meet the following safety and performance standards and as such will provide exceptional performance and trouble free use for the lifetime of the product.

CE Mark
The CE marking is a mandatory conformity marking for products placed on the market in the European Economic Area (EEA). With the CE marking on a product, the manufacturer declares that the product conforms with the essential requirements of the applicable EC directives.

ROHS Mark
The Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment  (ROHS) was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union. This directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. It is closely linked with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE).

REACH Mark
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is a European Union Regulation. REACH addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.

TUV

LVD Listed
The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) 2006/95/EC is one of the oldest Single Market Directives adopted by the European Union .The Directive provides common broad objectives for safety regulations, so that electrical equipment approved by any EU member country will be acceptable for use in all other EU countries.

ETL Listed

DLC Certified
Design Lights Consortium (DLC)-an organization funded by, and associated with, the U.S. Department of Energy (DoE)-focuses on certifying only high quality and high performance LED lighting products. DLC is used as the standard in the US for LED lighting, for both private and public projects. The many available energy rebate programs dealing with LED lighting products require DLC certification in order to be eligible for any incentives.

Energy Star
Energy Star (trademarked ENERGY STAR) is an international standard for energy efficient consumer products. Devices carrying the Energy Star service mark, such as computer products and peripherals, kitchen appliances, buildings and other products, generally use 20%–30% less energy than required by Government standards.
